Mandingo is the son of 2 head teachers. He was born in Spanish Town, the original capital of Jamaica, St.Catherine.
Friendship Government School, St.John’s Road, Spanish Town was his first school where his parents Mr and Mrs Williams were the Principal and Deputy Principal respectively.
He attended Campion College and Kingston Technical High School respectively and won a government engineering scholarship from Kingston Technical High School to study Civil Engineering in England.
A graduate of the Polytechnic of the South Bank (now University of the South Bank), he worked with Sir Robert McAlpine and Sons Ltd in London at Bloomsbury Housing, Shopping and Cinema Complex at Russell Square,Brent Cross Shopping Centre and the Kings Mall, King Street, Hammersmith, West London.
In Jamaica he worked with the Ministry of Works (Major Projects Division) at the MARCUS GARVEY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT and on the Palisadoes Road nearby to Port Royal and Kingston.
Mandingo also civil engineered on the May Pen By-Pass Highway in Clarendon. Mandingo also lived in Trinidad where he was the president of a student group named the Afrikan Research Unit on the St.Augustine campus who brought Dr.Yosef Ben Jochannan the renowned Afrikanist teacher to lecture to a capacity audience in the main auditorium.
Mandingo also worked as a Civil Engineer in Trinidad building houses etc.
